The MMAP® system requires that the product provided during dispensing may not exceed the specified maximum price.  If a more expensive product is supplied, the member will be liable to pay the difference between the MMAP® price and the more expensive product. 

To avoid the unnecessary additional cost of a co-payment, members should request their doctors to indicate on the prescription that a generic equivalent may be dispensed.
