SOS provides all registered beneficiaries with the services listed below within South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, subject to the limits of the scheme: General Medical Advice and Information, Emergency Medical Advice and Assistance Hotline Call Toll free 0800 341 341 SOS personnel, including paramedics, nurses and doctors are available 24 hours a day to provide general medical information and advice. This is an advisory service as a telephone conversation does not permit an accurate diagnosis. In addition to general medical advice, International SOS medical operators can also guide you through a medical crisis situation, provide emergency advice and organise for you to receive the support you need. Medical Transportation In the event of your involvement in a medical emergency, SOS will arrange for emergency medical transportation as deemed appropriate by the SOS doctor. Inter-hospital transfer If the SOS doctor, in consultation with the attending doctor determines that you should be transferred to an alternate medical facility (because the necessary treatment cannot be continued at the present facility), SOS will arrange for your one way transfer to the closest medical facility for admission and treatment. Medical Repatriation If you are hospitalised 100kms or more away from your place of residence, SOS will arrange for repatriation to your home town.
